Have you started thinking about a resolution for the New Year yet? I personally set up a few fitness goals myself including the dreaded weight loss goal. My fitness goals include running a half marathon before the start of spring, going to the gym at least 3 days a week, bringing my body fat percentage down from 30% to 20%, and lastly, losing 15 pounds. Getting started can be the most difficult part for some people even when you have set very specific workout goals for yourself or loved ones. The one major obstacle that I faced (when it came to running or working out) is that I  found it rather difficult to get motivated while working out alone. I brought this issue up to one of my closest friends who responded with the question, “What kind of music are you listening to when your working out?”  I then tried explaining that I was not a fan of listening to music while jogging because of the discomfort level I frequently experienced and the fact I had to stop every so often to prevent my ear-buds from falling out. My friend paused for a moment and then replied, “Are you ready to stop making excuses yet?”

After a short trip to Best Buy, I found all the right tools I needed to get motivated and stay motivated. The first item I bought was the Misfit Shine which is a tracking device. The matte face hides tiny, laser-etched holes that reveal 12 white LEDs below the surface. They activate when you tap twice on the Shine’s face, and show your daily goal progress followed by the approximate time of day. The Misfit Shine includes a nifty magnetic clip and wristband mount, effectively making the Shine an elegant watch. The Shine can discern between walking, running, swimming, or cycling and is also fully waterproof so you can take it swimming or in the shower. I was skeptical at first to the idea of working out alone but the Misfit Shine truly helped motivate me. This was simply because my workout goals, that were once viewed as monumental tasks, finally appeared achievable once I could track my daily progress just by syncing up the device with my iPhone 4s.

This was a great start but I still needed that extra boost due to my lack of discipline. Then I remembered what my friend had asked me regarding the type of music I listened to. So I paid Best Buy one more visit and spoke with a Blue Shirt (Best Buy representative). I explained my dilemma with ear-buds and the problems I faced while trying to run and listen to music at the same time.  That’s when I was introduced to yurbuds®, the #1 selling sport earphone company in the United States. Studies have shown that music can increase the intensity and duration of a workout by as much as 15%.  Unfortunately, most people (including myself) miss out on those benefits because their earphones hurt and fall out during active use.  Yurbuds was founded in 2008 by an Ironman Triathlete and a 24-time marathoner in response to that problem. With yurbuds TwistLock™ Technology and FlexSoft Comfort Fit, these Stereo-Bluetooth® earphones lock in place comfortably and are guaranteed never to hurt or fall out. These sweat and water resistant earphones feature full track & call control with a wind-blocking microphone designed for call clarity. Some of the other key features include: Bigger Sound for music and calls provided by 15mm drivers, Smart Battery powers a week’s worth of workouts and provides visual and audible indicators when running low, Dedicated Pairing Button for simple 1-touch pairing, and finally, they are  Compatible with all Bluetooth® devices. Launching at CES 2014 in Las Vegas this January, athletes and tech enthusiasts will be able to enjoy the first-ever Stereo-Bluetooth® wireless earphones guaranteed to never hurt and never fall out. “We’ve cut the cords so fitness enthusiasts have less in the way of achieving the perfect workout,” said Daniel DeVille, Director of Marketing for yurbuds®. “Designed based on user feedback, we are excited to deliver best-in-class wireless earphones that solve the needs not currently met by other wireless earphones and meet the rigorous standards of even the top professional athletes.”

After purchasing the Misfit Shine tracking device and the first-ever Stereo-Bluetooth® wireless earphones from my neighborhood Best Buy, I was ready to meet all my fitness goals and kick my excuses to the curb. Working out has never been more fun and keeping track of my progress has never been simpler. Thanks to my awesome new devices from Best Buy, I have all the motivation I need to reach my fitness goals and #neverstop.
